Description
The Manor is a house dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a colour washed rough cast exterior on a timber frame, with some of the timber frame rebuilt in brick during the 19th century. The roof is covered with old clay tiles. The building has an E-plan layout, with a central wing that is two storeys high, and cross-wings that are also two storeys tall with attics. At the front, there is a central two-storeyed gabled porch that includes a 19th-century Tudor arched doorway surrounded by gauged red brick. The windows are 19th-century diamond leaded casements with wooden mullions and transoms, and there are 19th-century bargeboards. The chimney shafts are rebuilt in octagonal red brick, although there are two early chimney breasts on the east elevation. Inside, the dining room features oak panelling and a carved chimney piece with high relief figures, dating from around 1570.
