Description
The North Lodges and gateway of Lea Castle are two lodges and a gateway built in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the mid-20th century. Constructed from brick and topped with tile roofs, the gateway features a crenellated parapet and a tripartite entrance, which includes a large Tudor arch flanked by two smaller Tudor arches. The right-hand lodge is a two-storey tower with angle buttresses and a crenellated parapet. It has a pointed single-light window with a label at the first floor, and on the ground floor, there is a window of two pointed lights under a square head with a label, alongside a single-storey block that has a similar two-light window. The left-hand lodge mirrors the right-hand one, and the entrances to the houses are accessed from the carriageway.
