Description

The Wood Colliers Arms is likely a former group of three houses, now a public house. It probably dates from the late 18th century, with additions and alterations in the early 19th century and the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of pebble-dashed brick and brick, with a hipped slate roof. The main facade faces east, incorporating a house at the rear and a storeroom to the left. The right-hand side features a central gable end, with a projecting gabled storeroom to the left and a dentil brick cornice above. There are two windows on this facade; a 4-pane sash window to the left and a 9-pane sash window to the right. On the ground floor, two 4-pane sash windows are flanked by an entrance with a wooden architrave and a panelled door to the left. To the right, a glazing bar sash window sits under a flat arch with stepped voussoirs. A further entrance, approached by two brick steps with an overlight, is located in the right-hand corner, also with stepped voussoirs to the head and a half-glazed door. Wrought iron railings with spearheads and acorn finials to the standards run along the front of the building.
