Description
Nos 5 and 6 on Church Street are early 19th-century brick buildings featuring an open pediment supported by brackets. They rise to four storeys and have three windows on the upper floors, which are adorned with rusticated lintels and keystones. The centre windows on the upper and second floors consist of three-light hung sashes with glazing bars. The first floor has two paired windows without glazing bars, also with rusticated lintels. The ground or tall basement storey includes two windows with rusticated lintels and iron guards, and there is a stone plinth at the base.
The plain pilastered stone doorway is topped with a cornice on brackets and features carved spandrels and a keystone. The double doors are six panels with a semi-circular fanlight above. Steps lead up to the first floor from inside. An iron lamp bracket is attached to the doorway, and there are rusticated doorways to the left and right, each with a semi-circular fanlight. The right-hand door is now set back.
