Description
24-27 Wyre Hill is a row of four houses built in the early 18th century, with some late 20th century alterations. The buildings are made of brick and feature a tiled roof with rear stacks. They stand two storeys high, with an attic that is illuminated by four dormers—two flat-roofed dormers flanking two gabled dormers. Each floor has a band, and there is a stone-coped verge on the right side.
The houses have seven windows, all in original openings with segmental heads. Most windows are late 20th century timber cross-windows, except for the second and third from the left, which are a three-light 19th century casement and a two-light 20th century casement, both of reduced height. The ground floor originally featured seven segmental-headed windows, but these have been altered. There are entrances in the third opening from the left and at the right-hand corner, with another entrance inserted to the right of the central opening. The sequence of windows includes a 20th century timber cross-window, a three-light 19th century casement, and three 20th century timber cross-windows.
The entrance to the left of centre (No 25) has an overlight and a half-glazed door. The entrance to the right of centre (No 26) is accessed by three brick steps, featuring a wooden architrave under a concrete lintel, a lean-to tiled canopy, and a 20th century ledged and boarded door. The entrance at the right-hand corner is approached by four brick steps and includes a wooden architrave, a tiled lean-to canopy, and a 20th century ledged and boarded door.
