Description

Old Beams Public House is a public house that was originally a farmhouse, dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with some later additions. The building is timber-framed and features a renewed plain tiled roof. It has a two-storey main range and a slightly projecting gabled cross wing. The framing is composed of square panels with some arched bracing. A renewed axial brick stack with angled decoration marks the end of the original structure. There is a baffle entrance in a 19th-century fretted timber porch. Small casement windows are set within the framing panels. The building was extended by one bay to the north in the early 18th century, incorporating timber posts and rail but predominantly constructed of brick. There are also further more recent extensions beyond this.
