Description

The house at Parsons Chain Complex is likely from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the 18th century. It is built of red brick and features a plain tiled roof, along with brick axial and gable end stacks. The structure has a brick plinth and nogged brick sill and eaves bands. It stands two storeys high with a cellar, facing southwest towards Worcester Road. The main range includes a gabled cross wing to the left and a gabled projection to the right. The front has a total of three windows, with a three-light casement under a cambered brick arch on each floor of the wing and projection, and a two-light mid-floor window that lights the stairs, complete with margin lights. The brickwork shows signs of alterations to the windows, likely from the 18th century. On the northwest side, facing Hartlebury Road, there is a panelled door with an overlight set within a gabled porch, and a two-light casement window on both floors to the left. Additional casements can be found at the rear, along with a massive projecting end stack and a door featuring the date 1671 in studs, which may indicate the building's original construction date. Inside, the house has ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams on both floors and moulded cross beams in what was the former kitchen. It also features plank and six-panelled doors, as well as a fine wide dog-leg staircase with splat balusters.
