Description
The Steps House Public House, originally a dwelling, dates from the late 18th century and was re-fronted around 1820. It is constructed of painted brick and features a plain tiled roof. The building is two stories high and has four bays, with a projecting central section that has a pediment and consists of two bays. To the right of this central section is a doorway with a pedimented case supported by fluted shafts. The windows include 16-pane sashes and paired 12-pane sashes above, all topped with segmentally arched brick heads. There is a semi-circular window beneath the pediment and wide lower windows in the outer bays, which are 20-pane sashes. A later addition to the south includes one bay with a single sash window. The building has two axial stacks and is included for its group value.
