Description

This outbuilding, dating from around 1600, is located about 2 yards south of Thatch End in Ashton Under Hill. It is timber-framed with rendered infill and some weatherboarding, resting on a limestone rubble base, and features a hipped thatched roof. The building consists of a single framed bay aligned north to south and is a single storey high. The framing includes two panels from the sill to the wall-plate. The main entrance is on the west elevation, featuring a 19th-century door, and there is a square window on the east elevation. The interior has not been inspected. This unusual and complete small timber-framed structure is situated next to Thatch End and is included for its group value.
