Description
Thatch End is a house dating from around 1600, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill sitting on a limestone rubble base, and it has rubble end walls. The house consists of three framed bays that are aligned east to west, featuring a large rubble chimney at the east end that includes a bread oven and a brick ridge stack. It is a single storey with an attic that has dormers.
On the north entrance elevation, the windows are arranged irregularly, featuring 19th and 20th-century casements. There is a three-light window under a cambered head, a two-light window, and three single-light windows on the ground floor, along with two eyebrow dormers that contain a three-light and a two-light window. The main entrance, located to the left of the central bay, has a partly-glazed 20th-century door. There is also an attic light in the west gable end. At the east end, there is a 19th-century lean-to addition. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to have retained its large fireplace in the east bay.
