Description
No. 52 High Street is a corner house and shop built in the second half of the 18th century, with later alterations. The building is constructed of brick, rendered with lined stucco and roughcast, and features a plain tile roof that is hipped to the left, with deep boxed eaves and a brick ridge stack.
The exterior has two storeys and consists of two sets of two bays. On the High Street side, the first floor has two round-arched boxed 7/6 sash windows with narrow sills. The ground floor features a corniced fascia above three 20th-century three-pane plate glass windows, with a 20th-century glazed door located to the right of center. On the Church Street side, the first floor includes a 12-pane fixed window with one opening pane on the left and a boxed 2/2 sash window on the right. The ground floor continues the shopfront with windows of four and three lights. The building has a chamfered plinth.
The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this building was formerly used as a saddlers' premises.
