Description
No 166 The Ridgeway, which also includes No 2 Brandheath Lane, is a pair of houses dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The buildings are timber-framed with painted brick infill and feature a thatched roof. They consist of five framed bays aligned north to south, with No 166 The Ridgeway occupying the three northern bays. There is a 20th-century extension to the south, and each house has a stack at the southern end.
The east front is one storey with an attic, which is lit by eyebrow dormers. It has three casement windows in the northern part and two in the southern part, with the entrance to No 166 The Ridgeway located to the right. No 2 Brandheath Lane is accessed through the 20th-century extension. The framing of the houses features three square panels high with straight tension braces. Inside No 166 The Ridgeway, there is a timber-framed chimney on the left.
