Description

A farmhouse, dating from the 17th century (as recorded in the Victoria County History), with alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries. The house is constructed of red brick, with a brick dentil cornice, and has a tile roof and brick external stacks. It is arranged in a T-plan, with three storeys and a two-window front. The front door is a six-panelled, part-glazed design, with a hood supported by shaped brackets and a later trellis porch. The windows are mullioned and transomed, with glazing bars, set within brick segmental arches. Some first- and second-floor windows on the left side are blind. A two-storey rear wing features irregular window placement and includes 19th and 20th-century casement windows. Inside, a room in the front range has an open fireplace and a broad, chamfered ceiling beam with an ogee stop. The rear wing also has ceiling beams. Exposed timber framing is reportedly present. The farmhouse is part of a group with nearby barns and a granary. A barn is attached to the end of the rear wing.
