Description
Sambourne War Memorial is situated on the village green in front of The Green Dragon Public House and features a small planting area around its base. The memorial consists of a Latin cross made of pale stone, with a reversed sword carved in relief on the front of the tapering shaft. The moulded foot of the cross shaft rests on an octagonal plinth made of red stone. This plinth is set on a three-stepped, octagonal base made of a third type of stone.
The inscriptions are incised on the sides of the plinth and on a grey stone plaque on the rear face, which duplicates the names listed on the memorial. The front face of the memorial includes the dedication "TO THE GLORIOUS DEAD," with an incised Latin cross below it.
