Description
Dragon Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century, mid-19th century, and 20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill and a brick extension, topped with a machine tile roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with the stem extending to the south and a cross-wing at the north end. An external ashlar stack is located on the east gable of the cross-wing, and a large stack is positioned between two bays of the other range.
On the west front, there is a jettied gabled range to the left and another range to the right. The cross-wing is two storeys high, with a three-light casement window on each floor. The other range is also two storeys and consists of two bays; the left bay is timber-framed, featuring one plus two casements on the first floor, and a two-light casement window on the ground floor. A 20th-century lean-to is attached to the right bay, which includes an entrance on the far right and two windows.
The framing of the building is close-studded, with a curved tension brace in the cross-wing and four square panels high in the other range. Inside the cross-wing, there is a fireplace with a panel carved in relief depicting two dragons, dated "16/14". Additionally, there are traces of a moat surrounding the house.
