Description

These are a symmetrical pair of cottages built around 1925 in Broadway, likely designed by Leslie Mansfield for Gordon Russell. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar and reconstituted stone dressings. They have hipped thatched roofs with three coped brick ridge stacks. The two-storey, two-window-range front elevation features steel framed casement windows with leaded, stone mullioned glazing. Each front door is within a board doorcase beneath a reconstituted stone gabled hood supported on brackets. Eyebrow dormers with three-light mullioned windows are set into the roof. The returns feature a four-light window to each floor. The rear has a recessed porch with pairs of windows and doors in the return angles, and thatched dormers with two-light wood mullioned casements above. There are also gabled projections on each side, with two-light mullioned windows on the first floor.

The interior consists of simple rooms with close boarded doors and 18th-century style latches. The fireplaces have shallow brick surrounds, painted, and the staircase balustrade and handrail have been modified. The original layout of the interior remains.
