Description
The former drawing office at Gordon Russell Ltd is an industrial building dating from around 1925, designed by Leslie Mansfield for Gordon Russell. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a projecting concrete ring beam and a hipped plain tile roof. The building has a rectangular plan with a curved footprint and consists of a single storey plus attics, with a total of fifteen bays.
The concave south side has an off-centre double door, flanked by seven windows on the right and five on the left, with a single door at the left end. Above this side, there are three hipped dormers with two-light windows. The convex north side also has an off-centre pair of doors, with seven windows to the left and five to the right, arranged unequally. Above, there are two hipped dormers with two-light casements. Each end of the building features three small square windows, and above these, there is a hipped through-eaves dormer with a taking-in door. The door at the west end has been converted into a window.
Inside, the ground floor is plain and undivided, with WCs located at the west end and a separate small room at the east end. The interior includes plank doors, some of which have 18th-century-style furniture. The attics reveal exposed queen post trusses with collars.
