Description
Nos 14, 14A, and 16 on The Green are shops that date back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof. It is one storey high with an attic and consists of three bays. Each of the first, second, and third bays has square timber bay windows topped with stone slate roofs. The third bay includes a window with plain reveals, and there are attic dormers above. The left-hand dormer, dating from the 17th century, is made of stone and has coping with a three-light mullioned window. To the left of the middle window, there is a door with a chamfered surround and a stone hood supported by brackets. A door to the right of the left-hand window has plain reveals. On the right side, there is a single-storey porch adjoining a gabled cross-wing, which features two bowed shop fronts from the 20th century under a stone-slated canopy, along with a first-floor window that has plain reveals and a central doorway. The building has chimneys located on the left, behind the ridge in line with the third bay, and on the ridge of the cross-wing.
