Description

SP 0937 BROADWAY CP HIGH STREET (south side) 8/70 Broadway Hotel 30.7.59 GV II Hotel. C14 or C15 and C17. Limestone rubble and timber-framing with stone slate roof. H-plan. Two storeys with attic. Left-hand (east) cross-wing is of one bay and has rebated and chamfered mullioned windows with hoods: of four lights on the ground and first floors and two lights to the attic. The recessed centre has windows with rebate and hollow chamfer: on the ground floor is one of four lights: on the first floor, one of three lights. At the left, above a porch, is a one-light window. In the angle with the left-hand cross-wing is a C20 porch. The right-hand cross-wing is timber-framed in irregular large panels. The first floor is jettied and now partly supported by C20 posts. At the right on the ground floor is a curved tension brace. On the first floor the left-hand brace is curved and the right-hand one is straight. The truss has a cambered tie-beam, raking struts, and a collar. The windows are timber casements. On the ground floor are three adjacent windows. The first floor and attic each have one window. Chimneys towards left of left-hand wing, and to right of main doorway.
