Description

The Broadway Hotel is a hotel that dates from the 14th or 15th century and the 17th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble and timber framing, topped with a stone slate roof, and has an H-plan layout. The building has two storeys with an attic.

The left-hand (east) cross-wing consists of one bay and features rebated and chamfered mullioned windows with hoods, including four-light windows on both the ground and first floors, and two-light windows in the attic. The recessed center has windows with rebate and hollow chamfer, with one four-light window on the ground floor and one three-light window on the first floor. Above a porch on the left, there is a one-light window. A 20th-century porch is located at the angle with the left-hand cross-wing.

The right-hand cross-wing is timber-framed with irregular large panels. The first floor jetties out and is partly supported by 20th-century posts. On the ground floor, there is a curved tension brace on the right, while the left-hand brace is curved and the right-hand one is straight. The truss features a cambered tie-beam, raking struts, and a collar. The windows are timber casements, with three adjacent windows on the ground floor and one window each on the first floor and attic. There are chimneys located towards the left of the left-hand wing and to the right of the main doorway.
