Description

The Hurst Memorial, located about 5 metres north of the north aisle of the Church of St James, is a chest tomb from the early 19th century. It is made of ashlar and features a flat top with a moulded cornice. The corners are adorned with fluted pilasters, and the long sides are divided by additional fluted pilasters that hold two oval inscription panels beneath swags of drapery. On the north side, the memorial reads: "In Memory of William Hurst/ (of Lincomb)/ who died June 17th 1828/ Aged 60 years". The memorial also commemorates other members of the Hurst family.
