Description

Lyppard Grange, formerly known as Leopard Grange, is a house located in Warndon. It dates back to the early 17th century, with alterations made in 1705 and further changes during the early to mid-19th century. The structure features a timber frame that is clad in rendered brick, with brick extensions and a tiled roof. The original house consists of three framed bays aligned north to south, which were extended in 1705 by a similarly sized brick block to the east. This extension includes a lower service wing that attaches at the north-east corner, with a stack located at the junction with the rear wing and in the center of the three framed bays, which has three shafts arranged in a six-pointed star plan.

The west front of the building has two storeys and an attic, illuminated by three windows in the gables, although the gable on the right has collapsed. The ground floor features a central entrance sheltered by a lean-to canopy, flanked by two angled bay windows. The north front reveals exposed brickwork from the 1705 alterations, showcasing two bands and a chequered effect created by blue headers. A first-floor window includes a keystone with a moulded brick head that previously displayed the inscription "1705/ W [illegible letter] M". There are remnants of a moat surrounding the house. At the time of the survey in November 1984, the building was unoccupied and in a state of decay.
