Description
The Old Smithy is a 17th-century house constructed with a timber frame and rendered infill, featuring a rendered plinth and a thatched roof. The building consists of three framed bays arranged in a north-east to south-west orientation. It has an external rendered brick stack on the north-east gable, which includes a detached shaft, and an oven located on the north-west side. The house is one storey high with an attic that is illuminated by a large central eyebrow dormer. On the ground floor, there are four 20th-century casement windows, a central entrance with a thatched canopy supported by wooden posts, and a 20th-century ledged door. The timber framing has been repaired and originally featured two square panels high, with the south-west bay being originally lower at only one panel high. The north-east gable includes a collar with raking struts below.
