Description

The Wakeman Memorial is a chest tomb located about 1 metre to the north-east of the Church of St John the Baptist in Claines, Worcester. It dates from around 1840 and is designed in the Greek revival style. The tomb features an ashlar construction with a stepped plinth, a moulded base, and a hipped capping that has a raised and moulded central section. The sides are tapered and include recessed, incised triangular corner panels along with plain inscription panels. The main panel on the north-east side commemorates John Wakeman, who died in 1832, and his wife, Mary Wakeman, who died in 1850.
