Description
No.14, Edgar Street is a house dating from around 1780, with alterations made later. It is constructed of pinkish-red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, and has a plain tile roof. The house is three storeys high and has one window on the first floor. The first-floor window is a sash window with 8 panes per sash; the second floor has a sash window with 6 panes per sash; and the third floor has a fixed-light window with 3 panes. All windows are set in flush frames and have flat arches formed of gauged brick. There is a dentil band along the eaves. The entrance is on the left side, consisting of two steps leading to a four-panel door set within a tooled architrave, which has a fanlight above and an open pediment. The interior of the property was not inspected.
No.14, along with Nos. 2-16, 28-34, No.12 College Precincts, Tower House (No.1 Severn Street), and Edgar Tower (College Green) forms a significant group. Edgar Street, where the buildings are located, is a fine example of a Georgian street and provides a setting for the Cathedral.
