Timber frame with facades of pinkish-red brick in Flemish bond, stuccoed sills and eaves band; plain tile roof and central rear brick stack with pots; cast-iron grilles. PLAN: 2 rooms deep with stairwell between; front room is narrower to make way for side passage. 2 storeys on half-basement and with attics, 2 + 2 first-floor windows. Ground and first floors have 6/6 sashes in near-flush frames and with sills, those to first floor have flat arches of gauged brick. Continuous 3-course band over first floor; crowning modillion eaves band. Outer entrances, 6-raised-and-fielded-panel doors with 3-pane overlights, continuous stepped frieze and cornice to ground floor, bowed over windows. Grilles to half-basement. Gable-ended attic dormers have casement windows. Rear: No.16 retains casement windows with leaded lights and external latch, one with lozenge motif, all retaining some original glass. INTERIOR: No.16 has 2 raised-and-fielded-panel door to front room. Dogleg taircase has splat balusters and plank door to cellar; elm plank door to kitchen which has tall, wide fireplace with plain surround with edge bead. First floor has boxed beam, dado rail, 6-raised-and-fielded-panel door. Attic has exposed purlins and rafters and, to front, a chamfered axial beam; some exposed square panels of timber-framing with later brick nogging.

Nos 2-16 (consecutive) Edgar Street (qqv) form a significant group, together with Nos 28-34 (even) Sidbury; Nos 11 and 12 College Precincts; Tower House, No.1 Severn Street; and Edgar Tower, College Green (qqv). Edgar Street (in which all the buildings are listed) is a fine example of a Georgian street and it forms part of the setting for the Cathedral (qv). (NMR: Photographs).
