Description

No. 17, The Tything is a mid-to-late 18th-century terraced house situated on a narrow burgage plot with its main axis at right angles to the road. The house is constructed of painted stucco over brick, with a plain clay tile roof and a stack with pots at its left end. It has three storeys and three first-floor windows. The stucco detailing includes a continuous band above the first-floor windows and above the second-floor windows, along with sills. The windows are all 1/1 sash windows with near-flush frames and sills. A 19th-century shop front is present, featuring panelled pilasters, fluted console brackets, a cornice, a blind box, and a margin-glazed door set in a recess to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
