Description
No. 3 St George's Square is a house built around 1830-1840, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of brick with painted stucco dressings and features a hipped slate roof. The house has end-wall stacks on the left side, which have oversailing details and pots, and a timber porch.
The building is three storeys high and has two first-floor windows. The first-floor windows are 8/8 sashes, while the second-floor windows are 4/4 sashes, all set in plain reveals with sills and rusticated flat arches that have projecting, fluted keystones. There is a later canted bay window on the left side of the ground floor, featuring 1/1 sashes and gauged brick flat arches. The stucco detailing includes a continuous sill, a string course, a cornice, and coping.
Access to the house is via two roll-edged steps leading to a five-panel entrance door on the right. The upper panels of the door are raised and fielded, while the lower panel is flush-beaded with elliptical incised decoration. The door is topped by a fanlight with radial glazing bars, all framed within a moulded architrave.
The house also features a latticework open porch with a tented roof. It is noted that No. 3 is of similar design to No. 11 St George's Square.
