Description
No. 6 St George's Square is a house built around 1830-1840, with later additions and alterations. It features painted brick with painted stucco dressings under a slate roof. The house has tall stacks at each end wall and a central stack on the rear roof slope, all with oversailing details and some pots. There is a skylight at the ridge.
The building has a double-depth plan with an entrance located slightly to the right of the center. To the rear left, there is a two-storey service range. The house has two storeys and a cellar, with two first-floor windows. The fenestration is asymmetric, featuring 8/8 sash windows on the first and ground floors to the right, both set in plain reveals with sills and rusticated flat arches topped with projecting keystones. To the left, there is a full-height, semi-circular bay added in the early 20th century, which has a flat roof and a four-light mullion and transom window on each floor. The entrance door, located to the right of center, has four panels, with the upper panels raised and fielded and the lower being flush-beaded. It is topped by a fanlight with radial glazing bars, all framed within a moulded architrave, and accessed by two roll-edged steps. The interior has not been inspected.
