4/88 Barn and granary about 20 yards north-west of Brickhouse Farmhouse and attached cider mill

GV II

Barn and granary. Early C17 with mid-C19 alterations. Timber-framed with brick infill on brick plinth; half-hipped plain tiled roof. Four framed bays aligned roughly east/west; wagon bay situated second from east end has opposed cart entries with double doors. Partly two levels. Framing: three panels from sill to wall-plate; long straight braces across lower corners; truncated collar and tie-beam trusses with struts at gable ends. South elevation: to left of wagon bay are three upper level windows, a stable door and a loft door approached by a flight of external sandstone and brick steps. Interior: partly inspected; intermediate queen-post roof trusses; granary occupies upper level of two westernmost bays. (BoE, p 152).
