Description

This is a mid-18th century house with additions from the mid-19th century, located on the west side of High Street, Redditch. The house is constructed of brick on a sandstone base, with Roman cement dressings, and has a hipped plain tile roof with substantial brick stacks along the rear wings. It is two storeys and has an attic with dormers, notable for its boldly moulded eaves cornice. The facade is four bays wide, featuring rusticated quoins. The windows, all 12-pane sashes, have stepped rusticated flat arches and moulded sills. Two hipped dormers have 2-light casements. The central entrance has a pediment supported by consoles, a moulded architrave, a 6-panelled door with a transom light containing two glazing bars, and three sandstone steps leading up to it. Blind windows with cambered heads are present on both floors of the side elevations. The interior, which was noted during the listing process, retains original ceiling mouldings and fittings, and includes a dog-leg staircase to the rear with turned balusters. A 19th-century gabled and lean-to addition is present to the rear right.
