Description
1-8, Thorngrove Mews comprises eight dwellings formed from a late 18th-century stable wing, coach house, and cider house. Originally part of Thorngrove, the complex was formerly listed under various names including The Saddlery and the Forge. The building is constructed of brick with a slate roof and features gable end parapets. The long north elevation is divided into a pattern of bays: a:b:a:b:a, with the second and fourth bays projecting and gabled. These gabled bays display a series of blind, irregularly sized pointed arches, ranging from one to three arches per bay. The gabled bays have a tripartite arrangement of a large central blind arch flanked by two smaller arches of differing sizes. The fenestration is irregular, with nine 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor and eleven on the first floor. Each gable has a keyed oculus. There are seven 20th-century doors, and the bay at the right-hand end features planked double doors with a square head. The interiors were not inspected.
