Description

The Montrose is a mid-19th century building of three storeys, originally built as a hotel. It is constructed of stucco with a hipped slate roof. The front elevation has five windows, each set within moulded surrounds. The windows are hung sashes with glazing bars, featuring architraves with pilasters and pediments to the first floor, and cornices to the ground floor. Moulded strings run along the facade. A porch with plain columns and piers provides entrance, with glazed side lights, a fanlight, and doors. Above the porch is a gabled glazed sun balcony.
