Description
Birchley Mill is a corn mill located on Cadmore Brook in Bockleton. It likely dates from the 18th century, although it has been altered in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of rubble, with brick additions, and features weatherboarded gables and a plain tiled roof. It has a rectangular plan and an overshot wheel situated on the south side. The mill stands two storeys high with an attic.
The west gable end includes a large archway and a small doorway on the ground floor, along with a first-floor window that has a cambered head and a metal casement attic window. On the north side, there is a small square ground floor window, while the south side has two small doors and a loft door at the rear east end. Inside, the machinery appears to have all survived, although access to the upper floor levels was not possible.
