Description

This is a 17th-century house located in Bockleton, near Romers Common. The house was restored in the mid- to late 20th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill between the timbers, set upon a brick and rubble base, and has an oak shingle roof. The building has two main bays aligned north/south. A large external rubble chimney with offsets is present, alongside a detached brick stack and a circular bread oven at the south gable. The house is single-storey with an attic, featuring dormers. The timber framing consists of three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with collar and tie-beam trusses and struts. Windows are 20th-century casements. The east front elevation has three ground-floor windows of two lights each, a two-light stair window, and two gabled dormers with two-light casements. The main entrance is at the south gable, accessed via a 20th-century lean-to porch with a glazed door and further glazed door inside. A 20th-century extension is located at the north gable. Internally, the main ceiling features stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
