Description

Bridge Farm House is a farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century, with later additions made to the north in 1830 and to the southeast in 1838. There are also additional early 19th-century extensions to the south, and a porch added in 1938. The house features a timber-framed central range with painted brick infill set on a sandstone plinth, while the later additions are constructed in painted brick with Flemish stretcher bond and a dentilled eaves cornice, all topped with tiled roofs.

The central range consists of two framed bays that run east-west. An early 19th-century wing extends to the north at the rear of the west end, and a second wing projects to the south from the east end. Additional structures to the east of the south wing include a former stable with a granary above, which is now part of the house. The main range has a large axial stack to the left of center and a later stack on the west gable, with the base of a former bread oven visible at the rear of the central range.

The house is single-storey with an attic, featuring 20th-century windows. The attic is illuminated by three gabled dormers with two- and three-light casements, while the ground floor has two three-light casements and single-light windows. A lean-to porch on the right has a 20th-century ledged door, and the south wing has a second entry with a resited heavy ledged door and a three-light window with a cambered head.

Inside, there is a large altered fireplace and an oak panelled internal door with linenfold panels leading to the main sitting room at the east end. A Birmingham Fire Insurance plaque is located on the west gable end.
