Description

Spider Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with additions from the 18th century. It features timber-framing and a thatched roof, and is one storey high with an attic. The right-hand side of the facade appears to be older, framed in two irregular rows of square panels with short straight braces supporting the wall-plate. This section has two eyebrow dormers positioned above the wall-plate. The left-hand side of the facade has framing of lighting scantling and consists of three irregular rows of panels. It also has two bays and includes a small window to the right of the doorway, which is located under the right-hand dormer. The doorway is sheltered by an open thatched porch. There are chimneys on the left-hand gable and between the two sections of the house. The left-hand gable truss features struts connecting the tie-beam and collar.
