Description

The monument to Walter Acton Moseley, located about 6 meters west of the west tower of the Church of St Peter, is a chest tomb dating from the late 18th century. It is made of grey sandstone ashlar and designed in an Adam style. The tomb is set on a raised stone base that once had railings, featuring a moulded plinth and capping. A Vitruvian scroll motif runs around the top edge below the capping. The long sides of the tomb have inscription panels adorned with fan motifs at the corners. The east short side displays a coat of arms. This monument commemorates Walter Acton Moseley, who was late of Glasshampton, although the inscription is partly illegible.
