Description
Horsham Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th century and the mid-18th century. It is constructed of brick and timber-frame, featuring wattle-and-daub and brick infill, with a plain tile roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with the rear wing dating from the 16th century and the front range being one room deep and from the mid-18th century. It stands two storeys high on a cellar, has a gable-lit attic, coped verges, and a dentilled brick cornice.
The front facade has three slightly asymmetrical windows, which include two 3-light casements under segmental heads flanking a lunette. The central entrance is approached by semi-circular stone steps and features a half-glazed panelled door, with a cellar entrance located to the right. The rear wing is also two storeys tall and consists of two framed bays. The walls were originally close-studded with a mid-rail on each floor, although many of the studs have been removed, leaving straight angle braces. The gable truss includes three queen struts to the collar.
