Description
Lower Hill Top Farmhouse and attached outbuildings with two hop kilns is an early 19th-century farm complex situated in Martley Horsham. The farmhouse is composed of two distinct parts, with outbuildings extending from the rear left side to the two hop kilns.
The farmhouse itself is constructed of irregularly bonded brick, featuring a hipped slate roof, brick end stacks, and a square ridge plan. It has deep boarded eaves and three glazing bar sashes, with tripartite sashes on the ground floor, all set beneath splayed brick heads. The central entrance is sheltered by an ogee canopy, topped with a semi-circular fanlight and a half-glazed door.
The outbuildings and hop kilns are also of brick construction and have slate roofs. Domestic outbuildings connect to two square hop kilns; these have two storeys and dentilled eaves. Irregular fenestration is present, including four 19th-century casements on the first floor, and a loft entry located to the right, accessible via a flight of steps. The kilns are distinguished by their pyramidal roofs and wooden rotating cowls.
