Description
The Old Court House is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame with lath and plaster infill set on an ashlar basement, topped with a plain tile roof. A large lateral ashlar stack with a brick shaft is present, along with a single-storey brick lean-to on the left side. The front gable is three storeys high, with two storeys of timber framing. Each floor has a 19th-century casement window, with the second-floor window retaining 17th-century ovolo mullions. The ground floor has a casement window in a chamfered surround, positioned off centre to the left, and the entrance is roughly central, featuring a 19th-century segmental corrugated iron canopy.
The framing consists of two structural bays with six square panels high up to the wall-plate. The truss includes two collars with multiple queen struts and curved raking struts at the apex, while the purlins have been renewed. Inside, there are stone jambs to the second-floor fireplace, which has a moulded edge to the mantel shelf.
