Description

Tan House is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with 18th century additions on the right side of the main elevation. The structure is timber-framed, featuring a mix of brick and wattle-and-daub infill, and has a tiled roof, with a corrugated iron roof covering the later addition. The building consists of two plus one structural bays and includes an outshut at the later gable end. It is a single storey with an attic that has dormers; the ground floor features two 19th century casement windows and five 20th century casement windows. There are also two gabled dormers with 20th century casements and a 20th century door with a tiled canopy in the later part of the building. A former external chimney, which has a rubble base and a brick stack with an oversailing course detail at the cap, is now enclosed within the later single bay addition.
