Description

This is a boundary post located in Great Malvern, dating from the mid 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a rounded top. The post has relief lettering that reads "CLERKENWELL/1869/J. W. FRANKLIN/W. F. PALMER/CHURCH/WARDENS." It is part of a group of boundary posts that were erected to mark the boundary of the Clerkenwell estate, which was given as a gift by Sir George Strode to the poor of the parish of Clerkenwell in London in the mid 17th century.
