Church. 1872 - 4 by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Squared rock-faced stone with slate roof. Late C13 style. Comprises a nave with clerestorey, north and south aisles, north porch, north-east tower, and lower chancel. Tower of three stages with angle buttresses, broached to a stone spire with three rows of lucarnes. The bell openings are pointed with clustered shafts, of two lights with quatrefoil. The middle stage has an arcade of three blind pointed arches, with a lancet window within the middle arch. The north window is of two lancet lights under a pointed head: The aisles are of five bays and have windows of two lancet lights. The clerestorey windows are round and cinquefoiled. The north porch, in the western bay, is of timber with scalloped bargeboards. At the west end of the nave is a moulded pointed doorway, and two windows each of two lancet lights with trefoil under a pointed head. The chancel windows are of two lancet lights with cinquefoil. The east window is of five lights with tracery. Interior: four-bay arcades of pointed arches chamfered in two orders springing from octagonal piers with moulded capitals. Both arcades have a fifth, narrower, arch at the west end. The chancel arch is moulded and pointed: The nave roof has raised tie-beams, crown-posts, and soulaces to the collars. At tie-beam level there are secondary plates and ashlar pieces. The chancel is floored with encaustic tiles and has an alabaster reredos designed by Clayton and Bell, and made by Powell's. It is flanked by tiles decorated with floral patterns. On the north side an organ is set within an arch. The east window contains late C19 glass depicting Christ and the four Evangelists.
