Description

The base of a preaching cross, located about 7 yards south of the Parish Church of St John the Baptist, dates from the 14th century. It is made of sandstone and features a square base with an arched niche on the west side. The top is bevelled and octagonal, with a hollow, square centre designed to hold the cross shaft, which is marked with grooves from arrow-sharpening.
