Description
This listing describes two gas street lamps, both featuring tapering Windsor lanterns. The first lamp is supported by four scrolled brackets, which are set on a flared capital and a reeded column with a moulded base. It stands on an octagonal plinth that tapers and has stepped scroll stops leading to a square foot. The ladder rest has reeded arms with moulded finials. This lamp was made by Hamilton Woods & Co. Ltd of Manchester, and the plinth is marked with the founder's mark.
The second lamp has similar features, also with a tapering Windsor lantern supported by four scrolled brackets on a flared capital and reeded column with a moulded base. It is set on a tapering octagonal plinth with stepped scroll stops to a square foot, and the ladder rest has reeded arms with moulded finials. This lamp is also by Hamilton Woods & Co. Ltd of Manchester, with the plinth marked by the founder.
There is a third lamp nearby that has lost its lantern and ladder rest and is not considered of special interest.
