Description

The Church of St James was rebuilt in 1871 by the architect G E Street in the Early English style. It is constructed from Malvern stone with ashlar dressings and features a tiled roof. The church has a tower topped with a gabled roof. The west end was altered between 1925 and 1926. Inside, the nave and aisles consist of three bays supported by columns with foliated capitals. Notably, the altar rails are made of wrought iron and brass and were formerly part of the rails used in King Henry VII's Chapel at Westminster Abbey. These were presented to the church in 1870 by the Dean and Chapter.
