Description
Vine Cottage is a house, now divided into two, dating from the early 19th century. It was partly rebuilt in the late 19th century and has some alterations from the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a hipped slate roof. It stands two storeys high and has a dentilled brick cornice.
The structure has projecting wings on both the left and right sides, with the left wing being rebuilt in the late 19th century. The right wing is three storeys tall and has a window arrangement of one, two, and one, with glazing bar sashes set under segmental lintels that include key stones and impost blocks. On the ground floor, the left wing features a semi-elliptical arch over a garage entrance, also with a keystone, followed by two windows that match the style above. The central entrance to the main range has a stone doorcase supported by two engaged Doric columns, with paterae in the entablature and a moulded cornice; the door itself is from the 20th century. In the right-hand corner of the right wing (No 16), there is another entrance with a stone doorcase featuring fluted pilasters and a 20th-century panelled door. The lintels of the windows are typical of the 1820s in Birmingham.
