Description
No 17, located on the north side of The Square, is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates back to the 15th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building features a timber-frame construction with painted brick infill and is underbuilt in painted brick, topped with a concrete tile roof.
The structure consists of two framed bays that run east to west and stands two storeys high, with two windows featuring 3-light casements. The ground floor has a tiled pentice roof that is hipped at each end, over two canted bay windows. The entrance, located to the left of the centre, has a half-glazed 19th-century door. The timber framing includes widely spaced studs with a curved tension brace on the right side, while the east gable features a collar with studs below and trenched purlins. Inside, the building retains exposed timber-framing, including chamfered and stopped ceiling beams.
