Description

No. 53 Tettenhall Road is a house that has been converted into a hotel, built around 1845. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a hipped slate roof with brick stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a three-window range.

On the first floor, there is a sill band, a top frieze, and a cornice, along with brick pilasters. The ground floor includes a canted bay window with angle pilasters, an entablature, and horned sash windows. The first-floor windows have rubbed brick flat arches above 12-pane sash windows, while the second floor features 6-pane sash windows. The entrance is marked by flat pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment, with a glazed door and overlight that has glazing bars. There are also two return lateral stacks.

This building is an example of mid-19th century suburban development in Wolverhampton and is included for its group value.
