Description
Nos 1 and 2 on Church Street are two shops built in the late 19th century. They are constructed of brick with some stone or stucco details and have a slate roof. The buildings are three storeys high and consist of five bays. On the ground floor, there are two late 19th-century shop fronts with a doorway between them, featuring brick reveals and a segmental lintel. The first-floor windows have painted stone or stucco lintels and sills that continue as flush bands. The windows are sashed, with paired windows in the first and second bays. The second-floor windows are also sashed with glazing bars and have a flush sill band. The middle bay is flanked by pilaster strips. The left-hand return wall has one bay, and there is a corner bay with a ground floor doorway. The buildings are included for their group value.
